s blend words pack
Now that our little learners have begun reading consonant blends st, sl, sm, sn, sp, sc, sl and sw words, we can move on to these s blends worksheet Pack which will help them practice and discriminate among these blends.
These 7 s-blends are by far the most challenging and confusing not only for children, but also for adults. Mistakes in writing words with these blends are quite common. Therefore, I suggest you begin with l-blends and r-blends before moving on to s-blends.
Today, I shall be sharing another s-blends pack with you with a variety of worksheets.
In my experience children typically record just one of the two blend sounds when spelling. For example, ‘swam’ is spelled sam; skit is spelled sit; smack is spelled sack etc. I try and stress on the consonant blend as much as possible when this happens.
Identify the pictures and colour them. Then paste the pictures under its blend.
The pictures are:
sk/sc skates scorpio scooter
st stem starfish stick
sp spots spell spill
sm smell smog small
sn snip snow snacks
sw swim swirl swim
Next, we will be doing an activity s blends worksheet where children will need to pick the blend for the corresponding pictures.
In this worksheet, the pictures are snake, spiderman, skirt, sloth, starfish, smoke, sword and scarf . The blend tiles need to be cut and then pasted next to the picture.
Moving further, we will try to make our little learners write the blends based on pictures in this s blends worksheet.
The pictures are:
The children have to identify the beginning blend based on each picture and write it in the block.
Identify the pictures and write the missing vowel sound for the s-blend words.
Our little learners can now try to write the s-blend words. Consonant blends can be quite tricky for children. In order to master them, constant practice is required.
Our little readers will read the sentences and stick pictures accordingly in the above cut and paste s blends worksheet.
In the last of the s blends worksheet our little learners will unscramble the words to form a logical sentence.
