A digraph is two letters that make just one sound.
A consonant digraph is two adjacent consonants that produce one sound.
s and h are two consonants which come together to form a new sound, the /sh/ sound.
I usually tell children that when ‘s’ and ‘h’ come together, they form a new sound, /sh/.
